Facebook has millions, literally millions of users, but the privacy concerns surrounding personal content on Facebook are rising. I know someone who recently decided to chop their friend list to the bare minimum only because they did not want distant friends and acquaintances to view some photos and other content.
With sites like Facebook, a person's life can become extremely public. Even if you take care not to post too many photos on your profile, some of your friends might post pictures of you in it, and there's nothing you can do about it!
The bright side is that, there are a number of settings that allow users to control what information they share, and with whom they share it. It is important to know about these settings fully well, so that one can get the most out of Facebook without worrying constantly about privacy.
First of all, it is possible to make lists of friends. All your contacts do not need to be blobbed into one big list. This makes it possible to control who sees what. You might want certain photos to be visible only to family, and this is entirely possible by creating friend lists. Also, people we know don't always fit into clear cut categories, so it's good to know that a contact can belong to one or more groups.
Often tagged photos or videos can pose awkward situations when they get splashed on all your friends' pages. Thankfully, there is a way to control who can see your tagged photos or videos. These are just a few options and control settings. There is a whole host of settings available to users to protect their privacy.
